1) Does the Baldwin Estate 5004 passage rosette come with knobs or a latch, or do I order those separately?
The 5004 passage rose ships with either one or two roses, the matching backplate, and the retainer or retainers that hold the rose to the door. Knobs or levers, the latch, and any adaptors are separate orders. Plan on three line items to finish a passage opening: the roses, the knob or lever pair, and the latch.
2) What is the difference between the Pair and Half Pair option on the Baldwin 5004 rose?
Pair gives you two roses for both faces of the door, which is what a normal passage opening needs. Half Pair is a single rose, used when you only trim one face, are replacing a damaged rose, or are building a half dummy. Both choices are offered in every one of the 14 finishes.
3) Is the Baldwin Estate 5004 rose rated for commercial traffic in an office or apartment corridor?
No. The Estate Series 5004 rose is a residential product. For commercial corridors or any opening that has to meet a commercial hardware spec, use Grade 1 or Grade 2 commercial trim instead. The 5004 suits homes, model units, and high end residential interiors.
4) Can I use a passage 5004 rose on a bathroom or bedroom door that needs a lock?
Not as ordered. The passage version of the 5004 has no provision for a turn or an emergency release, it is for doors that latch but do not lock. For a bedroom or bath you want the privacy configuration of the same style, which is offered as a complete Quick Ship set in Passage, Privacy, Full Dummy, or Half Dummy.
5) Can I use the Baldwin Estate 5004 rose to build a mortise sectional entry set, or is it only for tubular passage?

Fourteen finishes: 003 Polished Brass PVD, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass PVD, 050 Satin Brass Black, 055 Polished Nickel PVD, 056 Lifetime PVD Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass Brown, 076 Lifetime PVD Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112 Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. The PVD finishes (003, 044, 055, 056, 076) are the hard coated ones. 031 Non-Lacquered Brass is a living finish, it is meant to patina with handling, so do not specify it where the owner expects the brass to stay bright.
7) I need to match existing Baldwin roses on other doors in the house. Will the 5004 match?
Match on two things: the model number and the finish code. The 5004 is one specific Estate Series rose pattern with ornate detailing, so an existing rose has to be a 5004 to match visually. Then pull the finish code off the old package or invoice, for example 056 Lifetime PVD Satin Nickel, and order the same number. Finish names across brands are not interchangeable.
8) Is it simpler to order the 5004 rose on its own or as a complete set?
