Baldwin Estate 8320 1" Mortise Cylinder for G Series

The 8320 is a C keyway, 5 pin cylinder. Baldwin C is the standard Estate keyway, so it can be keyed alike or masterkeyed with other Baldwin C keyway cylinders by a locksmith. Anything cut for a different keyway, a Schlage C or a Kwikset KW1 for example, won't accept the same key, and the cylinder itself would have to be swapped rather than rekeyed.

If the lock is a Baldwin G Series and the cylinder measures 1 inch, yes, the 8320 is the cylinder alone. It replaces a worn or damaged cylinder, or changes the keying, without touching the lock case, trim, or the door prep. Nothing about the door bore or the mortise pocket changes. If the existing cylinder measures longer than 1 inch, or the case isn't a G Series, this one won't seat correctly.

Two: 056 Lifetime PVD Satin Nickel and 190 Satin Black. The PVD satin nickel is the one to pick when the cylinder face sits alongside existing Baldwin 056 trim, since PVD holds its color rather than aging like a living finish. Satin black pairs with matte black lever and handleset trim. Only the visible cylinder face and ring show once the lock is assembled, so match it to the escutcheon or rose already on the door.

Residential. The 8320 is an Estate Series cylinder, Baldwin's residential line, so it suits single family homes, high end condos, and interior openings in multi-family rather than a Grade 1 commercial opening on a schedule. Property managers standardizing entry doors across a portfolio of residential units are the usual buyer here; for a commercial storefront or an institutional door on a hardware schedule, a full-size mortise cylinder in the building's own keyway is the right direction.

The 8320 ships as a keyed 5 pin C keyway cylinder. If the goal is to have several doors open on one key, tell your locksmith before installation, since keying alike across cylinders is done by repinning them to a common combination. Ordering multiple 8320s does not by itself mean they arrive on the same key.

Brass, which is what you want in a cylinder shell: the pin chambers and the plug hold tolerance under rekeying, and brass takes the plated finish evenly. It's a 5 pin cylinder, so a locksmith can repin it in place instead of replacing it every time keying changes on the unit.
