1) What is the difference between the Pair and Half Pair option on the R016 dummy rose?
Type decides how many sides of the door you are trimming. Pair covers both faces for a full dummy set, typical on French or double doors where each side gets a fixed knob or lever. Half Pair covers one face only, for a half dummy on a closet or cabinet door that only needs a pull on the outside. Both options are offered in every finish the R016 comes in.
2) Will the R016 dummy rose actually latch or lock the door?
It will not. The R016 is a dummy function, meaning there is no latch, no spindle turn and no bore-through mechanism. It is surface mounted trim that gives a door a fixed pull or push point. If the door needs to stay shut you want a passage or privacy set instead, and Baldwin Estate offers this same rose style as part of complete passage, privacy, full dummy and half dummy sets.
3) I have one French door that needs dummy trim on both sides. What do I order?
One Pair of the R016 in your finish covers that single door, both faces. If you have a set of two French doors and each leaf needs both sides trimmed, that is two Pairs. Remember the knobs or levers are separate line items, so order two per Pair.
4) What finishes does the Baldwin R016 dummy rose come in?
Fifteen finishes, so it can be matched to almost any existing Estate hardware in a house: 003 Polished Brass, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass, 050 Satin Brass and Black, 055 Polished Nickel, 056 Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass and Brown, 076 Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112/11P Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. 5) How far does the Baldwin R016 rose stand off the door face?
Projection is 0.25 inch for the rose itself. That is the plate only, so add the depth of whatever knob or lever you mount on it when you are checking clearance to a door stop, an adjacent wall, or a cabinet face.
6) Is the Baldwin Estate R016 rose solid brass?
Brass is the substrate, and the finishes are applied over it. The Lifetime Satin Nickel, for example, is nickel plated onto solid brass as a matte PVD finish. That is why these have the weight of a brass trim rather than a stamped steel rose.
7) Can I use the R016 dummy rose on a commercial job?
Baldwin lists the Estate R016 rose as a residential product. For multi-family unit interiors, model homes or hospitality guest rooms it is a normal fit on closet and French doors, but for a graded commercial opening you want a commercially rated trim line instead.
8) Will non-lacquered brass on the R016 rose stay bright?
No, and that is the point of ordering 031 Non-Lacquered Brass. With no clear coat the brass darkens and develops a living patina with handling. If you want the bright gold look to hold, order 003 Polished Brass instead; if you want a consistent silver tone that resists wear, 056 Satin Nickel is a PVD finish over brass.
