Baldwin BAL-R029.056.PS – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Should I order the R029 rose as a pair or a half pair?
Order the pair when you are trimming both faces of a door, which is the normal passage application. The half pair covers one face only, which is what you want for a single-sided application or when you are replacing one damaged rose and the other side is still good. Both choices are offered in every finish the R029 comes in.
2) Can the Baldwin R029 rose be used with a mortise lock, or only a tubular latch?
Both. The R029 passage rose is used to build either a tubular passage set or a mortise sectional entry set, depending on the lock body and adaptors you pair it with.
3) Is the R029 rose a locking trim, or just passage?
Passage only. It is a non-locking rose for doors that just need to latch, like a hall or closet door. If you need a thumbturn for a bath or bedroom, you want the privacy version of the rose instead, not this one.
4) What finishes does the Baldwin Estate R029 rose come in?
Fourteen finishes: Polished Brass (003), Non-Lacquered Brass (031), Vintage Brass (033), Satin Brass (044), Satin Brass and Black (050), Polished Nickel (055), Satin Nickel (056), Satin Brass and Brown (060), Graphite Nickel (076), Oil Rubbed Bronze (102), Venetian Bronze (112/11P), Satin Black (190), Polished Chrome (260), and Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze (402). Each one is available as a pair or a half pair, so you can match existing Baldwin Estate trim elsewhere in the house.
5) How far does the Baldwin Estate R029 rose stand off the door face?
Projection is 0.25 inch, so it sits close to the door face. That matters where a door swings tight to a wall or casing, or where a stop or adjacent trim would foul a deeper rose.
6) Is the Baldwin R029 rose solid brass or plated pot metal?
The substrate is brass. On the Lifetime Satin Nickel version, the solid brass is nickel-plated with a matte PVD finish, which is why it carries the weight you expect from Baldwin Estate hardware rather than a cast zinc feel.
7) Is the Baldwin Estate R029 rose suitable for a commercial building's doors?
It is specified as residential hardware in the Baldwin Estate Series. For apartment interiors, single-family, and hospitality guest rooms it is a normal fit; for a commercial opening subject to ANSI grade or fire-door requirements, choose hardware specified for commercial use.
8) Will the R029 rose match other Baldwin Estate sets in the same house?
Yes, within the Estate Series. The R029 is an elongated rose in a traditional profile and the same style is offered in Quick Ship as a complete Passage, Privacy, Full Dummy or Half Dummy set, so you can carry one look across every door and change only the function door to door.
