1) Will the R049 rose cover an existing 2-1/8 inch bore hole?
It will not. Baldwin states plainly that the R049 rose does not cover the 2.125 inch standard door preparation, so if you are dressing up a door that already has a standard 2-1/8 inch cross bore, the hole will show. Either use it on a door with no bore (or a smaller one), patch and re-prep the face, or choose a rose with a larger diameter footprint.
2) What is the difference between ordering the R049 dummy rose as a Pair versus a Half Pair?
Type decides how many sides of the door get trim. Pair covers both faces, which is what you want for a full dummy on a door someone pushes from either side, such as one leaf of a double door or a closet pair. Half Pair is a single side, used for a half dummy where only one face needs a knob or lever, like a fixed leaf or a surface-mounted pull application. Both Type choices are offered in every one of the 14 finishes.
3) Is a dummy rose the right choice, or do I need a working latch?
A dummy set does not latch and does not turn, it is trim only. The R049 is a Dummy function, so the knob or lever mounted to it is fixed in place and there is no spindle, no latch, and no bore-through hardware. Use it where the door is held by a roller catch, magnet, or ball catch, on the inactive leaf of a pair, or on a closet or pantry door that only needs something to pull on. If the door has to stay shut on its own, you need a passage set instead.
4) Which finishes does the Baldwin Estate R049 Hollywood Hills dummy rose come in?
