Baldwin Estate R051 Hollywood Hills Rose Passage

The R051 Hollywood Hills passage rose ships with either one or two roses depending on whether you order a half pair or a full pair, plus the matching backplate and the retainer or retainers that hold the rose to the door. Knobs or levers, the latch, and any adaptors are separate purchases. So on its own it is trim only, not a working passage set.

Order the pair when you are trimming both faces of a door, which is the usual case for a tubular passage set. The half pair is a single rose with one backplate and retainer, which is what you want for one side only, for a sectional entry set where the other face is handled by a different plate, or as a replacement for a damaged rose on an existing door.

No. The R051 is passage function, meaning latching only with no lock and no thumbturn or keyway. For a bath or bedroom door that needs to lock from inside, you need a privacy rose instead; for a keyed opening you need an entry set.

Both. The R051 passage rose works for a tubular passage application and can also be used to build a mortise sectional entry set. Which way you go decides what else you order, since the lock body or latch and the adaptors are not included with the rose.

Fourteen finishes: 003 Polished Brass, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass, 050 Satin Brass and Black, 055 Polished Nickel, 056 Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass and Brown, 076 Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112/11P Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. Each is offered in both half pair and pair, so you can match a single replacement rose to what is already on the other doors.

Baldwin lists the Estate R051 as residential door hardware. It suits homes, condos, and residential-style multi-family interiors. For a commercial opening with graded hardware requirements, this decorative rose is not the right path.

It is part of Baldwin's Estate Series, so it is meant to coordinate with Estate knobs, levers, and sets in the same finish code. The style is also offered in Quick Ship as a complete passage, privacy, full dummy, or half dummy set, which is the simpler route if you are outfitting several doors and want consistent function across them.

Projection is 0.25 inch. That is the amount the rose itself adds off the door face before you add the knob or lever, worth knowing if the door swings tight to a wall or you are working around adjacent casing.

The substrate is brass, which is what gives the trim its weight and lets Baldwin apply plated and living finishes over it. The Lifetime Satin Nickel version, for example, is nickel plated over solid brass with a PVD topcoat.
