1) What comes in the box with the Baldwin R052 privacy rosette, and what do I still have to order?
The R052 privacy rose ships with either one or two roses (depending on whether you take Half Pair or Pair), the matching backplate, and the retainer or retainers that hold the rose to the door. Knobs or levers, the latch, and any adaptors are separate orders. So it is trim only, not a working privacy set on its own.
2) Do I order a Pair or a Half Pair of the R052 rose for a bedroom or bathroom privacy door?
A standard privacy door has trim on both faces, so you want the Pair. The Half Pair is for one side only, useful when you are replacing a damaged rose on one face or building a set where the other side already has trim.
3) Will the Baldwin R052 rose cover the existing hole from the old knob I took off?
For a standard single tubular cutout, yes. Baldwin states that the R017, R048 and R052 roses all cover most singular tubular cut outs, so the R052 hides a typical 2-1/8 inch bore without patching. It will not cover an oversized or doubled-up mortise prep.
4) Can I use the R052 privacy rose on a passage or dummy door instead?
No. Baldwin sells the R052 rose in separate function versions, and the privacy version is the one used to build tubular privacy sets. Passage roses are what you use for passage or mortise sectional entry sets, and dummy roses for full or half dummy sets. Order the function you actually need so the prep and retainer match.
