Baldwin Estate R054 Rose Dummy

The R054 is a dummy rose trim, so there is no latch and no moving mechanism. It is a surface-mounted rosette that gives a knob or lever a finished mounting point on a door that does not need to operate, like a closet door, a pantry door, or the inactive leaf of a double door. If the door needs to latch, you want a passage or privacy set instead.

Order by how many sides of the door get trim. Half pair covers one face, which is what you use on a closet or an inactive door leaf where nobody touches the back side. Pair gives you both faces, for a French door or any opening where both sides are visible. Every finish on the R054 is offered both ways.

It comes in 14 finishes, so matching an existing Baldwin Estate opening is usually a matter of ordering the same finish number: 003 Polished Brass, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass, 050 Satin Brass and Black, 055 Polished Nickel, 056 Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass and Brown, 076 Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112 Venetian Bronze, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. The finish number is usually stamped or listed on the existing hardware.

Projection is 0.25 inch, so the rosette itself sits nearly flush. Total stand-off at the opening comes from whatever knob or lever you mount on it, which matters if the door swings close to a casing, a wall, or an adjacent door in a pair.

The substrate is brass, including the plated finishes such as satin nickel, which is nickel plated over brass. That is what gives the trim its weight compared with stamped or zinc rosettes.

It is a residential product in Baldwin's Estate Series. For apartment interiors, single-family, and hospitality guest rooms it is a normal choice; for a high-traffic commercial corridor, specify commercial-grade trim instead.

The R054 is the rosette only. The knob or lever is ordered separately from the Baldwin Estate knob and lever offering, and the two are specified in the same finish number so they match on the door.

No. Non-lacquered brass (031) has no clear coat, so it darkens and patinas with handling and time. If you want the brass look held constant, order 003 Polished Brass or 044 Satin Brass instead. Note that 031 will not stay matched to a lacquered brass rose on an adjacent door.
