1) Can the BEA 10PBJX push plate be used wireless, or does it have to be hardwired?
Either. The 10PBJX jamb push plate can be wired straight to the door operator, or paired with a BEA wireless transmitter running at 900, 433 or 300 MHz, which saves pulling wire through the jamb. One exception: the Blue "PUSH TO OPEN" text and handicap logo version with the microswitch is hardwired only. If you want the wireless option, don't order that one.
2) Do I need a mounting box for a BEA 10PBJX push plate, and what kind?
Yes, the plate mounts to a box, and the 10PBJX works with both surface mount and flush mount boxes. Flush mount is the choice when the jamb can be cut and there is cavity depth behind it; surface mount when you cannot open up the jamb, such as an existing aluminum storefront frame. Complete kits are sold with the plate, mounting box, and optional wireless device together if you would rather order it as one line. Mounting screws come with it: stainless 6-32 x 1 in and 8-32 x 1 in, 5/64 allen head.
3) What graphics can I get on the BEA 10PBJX jamb push plate?
Seven faceplate options: blue text only, blue handicap logo and text, blue handicap logo only, a plain faceplate with no graphic, blue "PUSH TO EXIT" text only, a blue faceplate with white "PUSH TO OPEN" text and handicap logo, and a blue "PUSH TO OPEN" text and handicap logo plate with a microswitch. Egress side gets "PUSH TO EXIT"; approach side gets "PUSH TO OPEN". Plain plates are for interior activation points where signage would confuse traffic.
4) What switch is inside the BEA 10PBJX and can it drive more than a door operator?
A single-pole Cherry switch rated 15 A with COM, NO and NC terminals, UL Recognized. 7) Does a BEA 10PBJX push plate replace an existing jamb actuator without redoing the wiring?
If what is there now is a dry-contact jamb actuator wired to the operator's activation input, the 10PBJX drops onto that same pair of wires, since its switch gives COM, NO and NC.
