Bemis 1955CTBP Elongated Open Front Less Cover Commercial Plastic Toilet Seat with STA-TITE Commercial Fastening System Check Hinge Bulk Pack

The 1955CTBP is an elongated seat and Bemis states it fits most manufacturers' elongated bowls. The seat measures 20.98 inches long by 15 inches wide, which is the standard elongated footprint, and it mounts to the two standard bowl holes spaced 5-1/2 inches apart. If your bowl is round front rather than elongated, this is the wrong seat, the front will overhang by roughly two inches.

Ring only. The 1955CTBP is a less-cover seat, so there is no lid in the box. It is also open front, meaning the ring has a gap at the front rather than a closed oval. That combination is what most commercial and public restroom codes call for, and it is why you see it in schools, stadiums and multi-family common areas. If you are specifying for a private unit or a hotel guest room, you want a closed front seat with cover instead.

STA-TITE is Bemis's commercial fastening system and it is the reason this seat exists as a spec item. Bemis states it never loosens, which cuts the repeat service calls a maintenance crew otherwise makes for wobbling seats. The posts and pintles are 300-series stainless steel, so the hardware resists corrosion in a wet restroom rather than rusting into place. For a property manager running dozens of fixtures, the loose-seat callback is the single largest recurring cost on a toilet seat, and that is what this hardware targets.

The check hinge stops the ring from travelling more than 11 degrees past vertical. In practice that keeps the seat from slamming back against the tank or the wall carrier and cracking, and it keeps the ring from dropping forward on its own. In high traffic restrooms that backward slam is how seats and tank lids get broken, so the check hinge is doing real work, not marketing.

It is built for that duty. The material is commercial grade heavy duty plastic with molded-in color, so the color runs through the material instead of sitting on the surface, which means scuffs and chips do not show as white gouges the way a painted or coated seat does. Bemis states it resists wear, chips and stains. Combined with stainless posts and pintles and the check hinge, this is the configuration specified for schools, stadiums, airports and multi-family common restrooms.

White is the only color, ordered as 1955CTBP 000. The bumpers and hinges are color matched to the seat, so a white seat gets white hardware rather than a contrasting cap sitting on top of it. For anyone standardizing a building on one seat, that single-color simplicity is the point, every fixture matches with no color code to track on the PO.

The hinges themselves are plastic, color matched to the seat, while the posts and pintles that carry the load and bolt to the bowl are 300-series stainless steel. That is the split worth knowing before you order: the corrosion-critical metal parts are stainless, so cleaning chemicals and constant moisture will not rust the mounting hardware into the bowl holes when someone has to remove the seat years later.

Bulk pack. The 1955CTBP is the bulk-packed version of the seat, which is how it is bought for a fixture-by-fixture rollout across a building rather than as a single replacement. If you are replacing seats across a portfolio or doing a new construction turnover, this is the pack configuration to order. The seats are made in the US.
