Bobrick 264 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size toilet paper rolls fit the Bobrick B-264?
One standard-core roll up to 4-1/2 inches in diameter. It is a single-roll holder, so a jumbo roll or a large-core roll will not go on it. If your building buys jumbo tissue, this is the wrong dispenser and you want a jumbo-roll unit instead.
2) Does the Bobrick B-264 stop people from walking off with the roll?
Yes. The B-264 uses a self-locking mechanism, and the roll cannot be taken off the dispenser until it is used up. That is the main reason it gets specified for public and high-traffic restrooms over an open bar-style holder, where a full roll can be lifted in a second.
3) Should I use a single-roll dispenser like the B-264 or a double-roll unit in a commercial restroom?
Single-roll units like the B-264 hold one standard roll and need a service visit as soon as that roll runs out. In a busy public restroom, that is a lot of trips. A double or multi-roll dispenser carries a reserve roll so the stall does not run dry between rounds. The single-roll unit makes sense where traffic is low and predictable, in a private office washroom, a single-occupancy restroom, or a residential unit, and where the small 6 by 2-3/4 inch footprint is what fits the stall.
4) What is the Bobrick B-264 dispenser made of and will it hold up in a high-traffic public restroom?
Steel with a bright-polished chrome plating. It is a formed metal unit rather than plastic, so it takes abuse and routine cleaning better than a molded holder, and the polished finish wipes down. For property managers standardizing across a building, the bright polished look pairs with chrome faucets and chrome grab bars.
5) Do I need to open the wall or order a rough-in box to install the Bobrick B-264?
No wall work needed. The B-264 mounts on the surface of a finished wall, so it goes onto tile, block, or drywall with appropriate anchors and does not require a recessed cavity behind it. That makes it a straightforward retrofit where an older holder is being pulled off, and a practical choice on solid masonry or tiled partitions where cutting in a recessed unit is not an option.
6) Is the Bobrick B-264 an enclosed dispenser or is the roll exposed?
The roll sits out in the open on the B-264, not behind a cover or a hood. Tissue is exposed to splash and to humidity, which is fine in a dry, well-ventilated washroom but worth thinking about beside a shower or in a wet cleaning environment. The tradeoff is that staff can see the roll level at a glance without opening anything, which speeds up a housekeeping round.
7) Does the Bobrick B-264 come in any finish other than polished chrome?
Bright polished is the only finish the B-264 is built in. If your washroom package is satin or brushed stainless throughout, this unit will read brighter and more reflective than the rest of the accessories, so match it against your faucet and grab bar finish before you standardize a whole floor on it.
