Bobrick 2740 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Bobrick B-2740 ADA compliant?
Bobrick lists the B-2740 as ADA compliant. Compliance still depends on where you set it: the mounting height and the position relative to the water closet and grab bar are the installer's responsibility on any surface mounted dispenser.
2) Can this tissue dispenser be locked against theft in a public restroom?
Yes. The B-2740 uses a concealed locking device and is built theft resistant, with plastic spindles inside a heavy cast aluminum body. That is the reason it gets specified in high traffic public and institutional washrooms rather than a light gauge stamped holder.
3) Is the B-2740 surface mounted or recessed?
Surface mounted. It fastens to the face of the wall, so there is no chase or rough-in cutout to coordinate with the framing. That makes it workable on block, tile over masonry, or an existing finished wall in a renovation where you cannot open up the partition.
4) Is the B-2740 a controlled delivery dispenser?
No. It is marked no controlled delivery, meaning both rolls spin free and the user can pull as much as they want. If your goal is to cut consumption in a high traffic facility, you want a controlled delivery model instead.
5) What is the Bobrick B-2740 made of and what does it look like installed?
Heavy-duty cast aluminum with a satin finish, which is the only finish it ships in. Cast aluminum holds up better to abuse than stamped sheet metal, and satin aluminum is a neutral match alongside stainless and chrome washroom trim in commercial restrooms.
6) Is the Bobrick B-2740 suitable for a residential bathroom or is it commercial grade?
It is catalogued and built as a commercial fixture, for institutional, multi-family, school, and public washroom use. Nothing stops you putting it in a residence, but the two-roll capacity, lock, and cast aluminum body are aimed at facilities that restock on a route.
