Bobrick 3944-41 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What unit does the Bobrick B-3944-41 lock and key fit?
The B-3944-41 is the replacement lock and key for the Bobrick B-3947 paper towel dispenser and waste receptacle. It is the same lock and key set that shipped with that unit, so it drops into the B-3947 cabinet without modification. If your unit is a different Bobrick model number, this is not the part for it.
2) Can I just order extra keys for our Bobrick B-3947 towel dispensers without replacing the lock?
The B-3944-41 is sold as a lock and key set, not keys alone. It covers both situations a facility runs into: a lock that has been damaged or vandalized, and a crew that needs an extra set of keys for the B-3947 receptacle. Ordering the set gives you a working cylinder plus keys in one part.
3) Is the Bobrick B-3944-41 a door or partition lock?
No. It is washroom accessory hardware, specifically the cylinder lock and key for a Bobrick B-3947 towel and waste receptacle cabinet. It is not a restroom partition latch, not a door lockset, and it will not work on a stall door. If you need stall hardware, look for a partition latch set sized to your partition thickness.
4) Why is there a lock on a paper towel receptacle in the first place?
The lock on the Bobrick B-3947 keeps the paper towel stock behind a locked cabinet so only staff can open it and reload. In high traffic restrooms that is what stops the whole roll or stack of towels walking off in one go. The B-3944-41 restores that control when the original lock is damaged or the keys are lost.
5) We have a mix of Bobrick receptacles across several buildings. Will one B-3944-41 key open all of them?
The B-3944-41 is matched to the Bobrick B-3947 receptacle. Whether your units already share a common key depends on how they were originally supplied and keyed, so check the lock in each cabinet against the key you have before assuming one set covers a whole portfolio. For standardizing, replacing the locks on all your B-3947 units with the same part is the way to bring them onto a single lock and key set.
