Bobrick 6637 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the Bobrick B-6637 be surface mounted on a block or tile wall?
No. The B-6637 is a recessed unit only, and it needs a wall cavity at least 4 inches deep behind the opening. On solid block, poured concrete, or a shallow furred wall where you can't get that depth, you need a surface-mounted tissue dispenser instead.
2) Is the B-6637 ADA compliant for a public restroom?
Bobrick lists the B-6637 as ADA compliant. Compliance still depends on where you set it: the dispenser has to land within the reach ranges and clear of the grab bar, so confirm the mounting height and the distance from the water closet against your local code before the opening is cut, since a recessed unit is not easy to move afterward.
3) Does the Bobrick B-6637 store a spare roll, or do I need a second dispenser?
The recessed cabinet holds one spare roll behind the dispensing roll, so a single unit covers two rolls per stall. For a property manager stocking restrooms, that halves how often housekeeping has to reload compared with a single-roll holder, though it is still fewer rolls than a twin jumbo unit.
4) How much does the B-6637 project into the room once it is installed?
Almost nothing. The cabinet sits 3-15/16 inches into the wall, so only the flange stands proud of the finished surface. That is the reason to spec a recessed unit in a tight toilet compartment or an accessible stall where a surface-mounted holder would eat into the clear floor space or catch a wheelchair.
5) Can I install the B-6637 in a partition panel instead of a wall?
Only if the panel gives you the full rough opening of 5-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches and at least 4 inches of clear depth behind it. Most toilet partition panels are around an inch thick, so they will not take this cabinet. For partition mounting, use a surface-mounted or partition-mounted tissue dispenser.
6) What finish and material is the Bobrick B-6637, and will it hold up in a high-traffic restroom?
Satin-finish stainless steel throughout the cabinet and flange, with a chrome-plated plastic spindle. Satin stainless is the standard choice for schools, stadiums, and other heavy-use washrooms because it resists corrosion and hides scuffs and fingerprints better than polished. Recessing the body also removes most of the target for abuse and hanging bags.
