Bobrick 7674X24 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What lengths does the Bobrick B-7674 towel bar come in?
The B-7674 surface mounted towel bar is offered in two lengths, 18 inch and 24 inch. Both use the same 3/4 inch diameter round stainless steel bar, so you can mix lengths across a building and keep a consistent look. Pick the 18 inch for tight walls beside a lavatory and the 24 inch where you have full wall run for bath towels.
2) Is the Bobrick B-7674 towel bar surface mounted or does it need in-wall blocking?
It's a surface mounted bar. The posts fasten to the finished wall face, so there is no recessed prep or cut-in required, which is why it works for retrofits on tile, plaster, and drywall in existing restrooms. You still need solid backing or the correct wall anchors at each post location to carry a loaded towel.
3) Is the Bobrick B-7674 a towel bar or a grab bar? Can it be used for support?
It's a towel bar only. The B-7674 is a 3/4 inch diameter round bar for hanging towels, not a grab bar, and it should never be specified where a user may pull on it for support. For ADA-compliant patient or shower support you need a purpose-built grab bar, which is a heavier tube with reinforced flanges and a published load rating.
4) Will a stainless towel bar hold up in a commercial or public restroom?
The B-7674 is stainless steel with a bright polished finish, which is the usual choice for commercial washrooms because it resists the humidity and the disinfectant cleaners that pit painted or plated bars. Clean it with a damp cloth and mild soap rather than abrasive pads or acid cleaners to keep the polish from dulling.
5) Will the B-7674 match my existing bright polished stainless washroom accessories?
Yes, if your other accessories are bright polished stainless. The B-7674 is finished bright polished stainless steel, the same look as chrome-appearance grab bars, mirrors, and paper holders in that family. It will not match satin or brushed stainless trim, which reads noticeably duller next to a bright bar.
