It is 18-8 stainless steel, bolt and nuts both, which is the standard austenitic grade for wet and outdoor service. That makes it suitable for exterior conduit runs, rooftop mechanical supports, and damp interior locations where a plated carbon steel U-bolt would rust at the threads.

Two hex nuts ship with each U-bolt, one per leg, so nothing else is needed to make up the connection. You will still need whatever you are clamping to, such as a strut channel, a flat bracket, or a drilled plate, since no backing plate or saddle is part of the assembly.
