1) What grade or strength are the Metallics JHTB56 bolts, and are they strong enough for hanging strut and trapeze supports?
Minimum tensile strength is 60,000 psi with a hardness of Rockwell B69 to B100. That is standard low carbon commercial bolt strength, in line with a Grade 2 fastener, and it is the normal specification for electrical strut, channel nut, and light trapeze hanging work. If a structural engineer has called out a Grade 5 or Grade 8 bolt on the drawing, this is not the right fastener for that line item.
2) Will the Metallics JHTB56 meet a Buy American or ARRA requirement on a government job?
No. The JHTB56 hex tap bolt is not Buy American compliant and is not ARRA compliant, and the country of origin is listed as multiple. On a federally funded project with domestic sourcing language in the spec, this fastener will not satisfy it, so source a domestically produced hex tap bolt for that scope.
3) Can these zinc plated hex tap bolts be used outdoors or in a damp mechanical room?
These are carbon steel with a zinc plated finish, which is a general corrosion coating for indoor and sheltered use. It holds up in a mechanical room, a ceiling plenum, or inside a panel, but zinc plating is not a marine or chronically wet duty coating. For direct weather exposure or washdown areas, step up to a stainless hex tap bolt instead.
