1) Are the ends of the Boshart 0925 threaded or solvent weld socket?
Threaded. Both ends are FPT (female iron pipe thread), so they take male-threaded pipe or a male adapter on each side. If your run is plain PVC pipe with no threads, you will need male adapters solvent welded to the pipe first. This is not a slip/socket valve.
2) I need a rough-in shutoff valve but my run is not threaded PVC. What should I use instead of the Boshart 0925?
The Boshart 0925 only mates to male pipe thread, since both ends are FPT, so it is the wrong choice if the pipe is not threaded. For a rough-in shutoff on a non-threaded run, the SharkBite SBBV54 ball valve is intended for rough-in shutoff applications and is the alternative to look at. Keep the 0925 where you can thread into it directly and want a PVC body for pool, irrigation, or chemically active water service.
3) Can I use this valve on a swimming pool or irrigation line?
Yes. The 0925 is specified for water supply, swimming pool plumbing and irrigation isolation, which is where the PVC body and PTFE seat matter most, chlorinated and fertilizer-laden water will attack metal valves. The EPDM stem O-ring handles continuous water exposure.
4) Is this valve OK to bury or install behind a wall?
