Metallics CCM – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Metallics CCM cable clip used for?
The Metallics CCM is a cable clip for fastening MC or AC cable to a metal stud. It is a mechanical clip, so the cable is secured to the stud without screws or a separate strap and anchor.
2) Will the CCM clip work on wood studs or a joist?
No. The CCM is made for metal stud framing and relies on the stud edge to hold. For wood framing you need a nail-on or screw-type MC/AC cable staple or strap instead.
3) Can I use the Metallics CCM for both MC cable and AC (BX) cable?
Yes, it is rated for MC and AC cable both, which is why electricians carry one clip for armored cable runs rather than separate hardware for each type.
4) Do I need a screw or anchor with the CCM cable clip?
No separate fastener is involved. The CCM is a one-piece clip that attaches the armored cable directly to the metal stud, which is what makes it faster than a strap-and-screw method on a long branch-circuit run.
5) Is the Metallics CCM sold under a different part number?
The part number is simply CCM, from Metallics, described as a cable clip for MC/AC to metal stud. That is the designation to quote when ordering or matching what is already on the job.
