Cahaba CA401003 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What floor space do I need to frame for the Cahaba Virgo 63 in. freestanding tub?
The Virgo oval tub takes a 63 inch by 33-7/16 inch footprint and stands 21-5/8 inches tall. Because it is a freestanding installation, plan clearance on all four sides for cleaning and for whatever faucet type you choose, and bring the waste up in the floor at the center of that footprint.
2) Where does the drain land on the Virgo 63 in. tub, and does it come with the drain and overflow?
Drain placement is center, and the tub ships with the pop-up drain and waste overflow already installed. Overflow height sits at 13.75 inches, which matches the 13-3/4 inch soaking depth. The drain finish is an ordering choice: chrome or white.
3) Does the Cahaba Virgo tub have faucet holes drilled?
No. The Virgo deck is supplied with no faucet holes, which is why it works with a wall-mounted, deck-mounted or floor-mounted freestanding filler. The faucet is not included, so specify it separately and set the rough-in to suit the mounting style you pick.
4) What trap do I need under a Cahaba Virgo freestanding tub?
Cahaba sells a flexible P-trap for it as model CA401FLEX, ordered separately. The flexible trap is the usual answer on a freestanding tub because the floor waste has to meet a center drain that only lines up after the tub is leveled in place.
5) How deep can you actually soak in the Virgo 63 in. tub?
Soaking depth is 13-3/4 inches to the overflow, with a 58-1/5 gallon capacity. Interior basin dimensions are 41.31 inches long, 18.88 inches wide and 16.94 inches deep, so the water line sits well below the basin rim.
6) Will the floor carry a 63 in. acrylic freestanding tub, or do I need to reinforce it?
The tub itself weighs 83.8 lbs dry, since it is fiberglass-reinforced acrylic rather than cast iron or stone. Add 58-1/5 gallons of water plus the bather for your live load calculation. Load is spread through concealed, adjustable leveling legs, so level them all down onto solid bearing rather than leaving one short.
7) Is the Cahaba Virgo tub certified for installation in Canada as well as the US?
The Virgo soaking tub is cCSAus certified, which covers both the US and Canadian marks. It is manufactured in China.
8) Is this a soaking tub or does it have jets?
Soaking only. The Virgo 63 in. is a plain acrylic soaker, no air or whirlpool system, so there is no pump, no blower, and no electrical rough-in or access panel to plan for. Plumbing is limited to the waste and the faucet supply.
9) Can I get the Virgo 63 in. tub in a color other than white?
Glossy white is the only tub finish. The one choice you make is drain finish, chrome or white, both against the glossy white shell. For a multi-unit job that keeps the specification simple: one color, two drain trims.
10) Does the Virgo tub have claw feet or a skirt?
Neither in the traditional sense. The Virgo stands on concealed, adjustable acrylic leveling legs hidden behind the tub's own skirted silhouette, so you see a continuous oval shell down to the floor and no exposed feet. That also means there is no visible foot finish to coordinate with the faucet.
