Cahaba CA401006 Sacha 71 in. Freestanding Acrylic Tub

Plan for a footprint of 71-1/4 inches long by 33-3/4 inches wide, with the rim sitting 23-1/4 inches off the floor. It is an oval freestanding tub, so it needs clearance on all four sides, not just the length. Budget a few inches behind it for the trap and supply connections since nothing hides inside a wall.

No holes are drilled in the deck. That means you pick the faucet style: wall mounted, deck mounted, or a floor-mounted freestanding filler. The faucet is not included, so it gets ordered separately.

Drain placement is center, so the waste line comes up roughly midway along the 71-1/4 inch length rather than at one end. A chrome pop-up drain and the waste overflow come preinstalled. Cahaba offers a flexible P-trap, model CA401FLEX, separately, which is the usual way to pick up a center drain on a freestanding tub when the floor penetration is not perfectly placed.

Water depth to the overflow is 14-1/4 inches, holding about 63-1/2 gallons. The basin itself is 17.75 inches deep, 43.25 inches long and 19 inches wide at the bottom, so it is a true soaker rather than a shallow bathing tub.

The tub itself weighs 92.6 lbs empty, which is light because the shell is fiberglass-reinforced acrylic rather than cast iron or stone resin. Add roughly 63-1/2 gallons of water plus a bather for your live load calculation. For most framed floors that is a conventional tub load, nothing like the point loading of a cast iron clawfoot.

The Sacha has concealed, adjustable leveling legs built into the base, so you set it in place and dial each leg until the rim reads level. There are no exposed feet to shim or finish, and the skirt hides the adjustment once it is set.

Both are the same glossy white acrylic shell in the same 71-1/4 inch size. The only difference is the drain and overflow trim finish: one comes with chrome, the other with a white drain that blends into the tub. Pick based on whether you want the drain to disappear or to match chrome faucet trim.

It is built as a freestanding oval, finished on all sides, so it is meant to stand clear of the walls. You can push one side close to a wall for a tight bathroom, but the faucet then has to be wall mounted or deck mounted rather than a floor filler on that side, and you lose access to the trap connection behind it. It is not a drop-in or alcove tub and has no tiling flange.

Acrylic is the practical pick where handling matters. At 92.6 lbs the Sacha can be carried up a stairwell by two people and set on its concealed levelers without a crane or extra framing, and the glossy white surface cleans with standard non-abrasive bathroom cleaners. Where you want mass and heat retention for a high-end owner bath, a cast iron or stone resin tub is the alternative, at several times the weight.
