1) Can the Cahaba CASS18UM16SBR round bar sink be installed in a laminate countertop?
It is an undermount sink, so it needs a solid surface countertop: granite, quartz, marble, or solid surface material that can take a polished cutout edge and support the sink clips. Standard laminate is not a candidate for undermounting. If the counter is laminate, you want a drop-in (topmount) sink instead.
2) Is this Cahaba bar sink approved for commercial use in a restaurant or break room?
No. The CASS18UM16SBR is made for residential use only and Cahaba states it should not be used in commercial applications. For a commercial bar or foodservice prep area, specify a sink built and listed for that duty instead.
3) What comes in the box with the Cahaba CASS18UM16SBR, and what do I still have to buy?
The sink ships with the drain assembly, the undermount mounting hardware, and a cutout template for the countertop fabricator. You still supply the faucet, the tailpiece and P-trap, the supply lines, and silicone for the rim. There is no basin rack included, and no overflow drain.
4) Where does the faucet mount on this round undermount bar sink?
Not on the sink. The CASS18UM16SBR has zero faucet holes, which is normal for an undermount, so the faucet gets drilled into the countertop or mounted on the wall behind it. Decide faucet placement before the fabricator templates the stone.
5) How deep is the Cahaba 16-1/4 in. round bar sink, and will a 7 inch bowl clear my trap and disposal?
The bowl is 7 inches deep with the drain in the center. Measure from the underside of your countertop down: 7 inches of bowl plus the drain body and trap has to clear the cabinet floor and any shelf. Center drain placement usually leaves the trap in the middle of the cabinet rather than tight to a side wall, so check where your stub-out lands before you set it.
6) Is 18 gauge stainless heavy enough for a bar sink, and will it be noisy?
18 gauge is the heavier of the two common residential stainless thicknesses and holds its shape better under an undermount clamp than thinner 20 or 22 gauge. Cahaba builds this one from certified 304 series 18/10 chrome-nickel stainless, and it is quieted twice: a sprayed sound deadening coating plus a thick rubber pad on the underside. The same coating cuts condensation dripping into the cabinet.
7) Will the round bowl on this Cahaba sink hold enough for a wet bar or coffee station?
The bowl holds roughly 8 quarts in a 14.25 by 14.25 inch round basin, 7 inches deep. That handles glassware, ice dumping, a cocktail shaker, or filling a carafe. It is not sized for stacking dinner plates or washing sheet pans, so it works as a secondary prep or bar sink, not a primary kitchen sink.
8) Do I need a template to cut the stone for the Cahaba CASS18UM16SBR, or is there a drawing?
Both are available. A cutout template ships in the box, and Cahaba publishes a DXF product drawing and a specification sheet you can hand straight to the countertop fabricator.
