Yes, and it comes in three faceplate sizes so you can match whatever box or mullion you are working with: single gang, double gang, and narrow. The narrow plate is the one for a hollow metal frame or a narrow mullion where a single gang plate will not sit flat. Faceplates are satin stainless steel. The single gang plate measures 4.5 x 1.75 x 1-3/4 inches per the published height, length and width.
2) Can a touchless wave switch drive an automatic door operator or a maglock directly?
Not directly. The CM-221 is a dry contact switch with one relay rated 1 amp at 30 VDC, which is a signal level contact. It is wired as the actuating input to an automatic door operator or into an access control panel or door release circuit, and the operator or panel does the switching of the door motor or lock current. If you need to break maglock current, put a relay or the panel's relay output between them.
3) Is there a touchless exit switch I can mount outdoors or in an unheated garage or loading dock?
The ValueWave CM-221 is IP 65 rated for indoor or outdoor use and operates from 14 degrees F to 122 degrees F (-10 C to +50 C). That covers an exterior entry, a parking structure or an unheated dock in most of the country, but a walk-in cooler or a site that sees below 14 F will run outside the stated range.
4) What is the difference between the CM-221 wave switch models with and without the override option?
Every faceplate size in the CM-221/46 group, narrow, single gang and double gang, is offered with or without the override. Both carry the same hand icon and 'Wave to Exit' text graphic, the same active infrared sensing and the same multi function relay. Pick the override version when the opening needs a manual means of releasing or disabling the switch at the plate rather than back at the panel.
5) Does a wave to exit switch hold the door open long enough, or do I need a separate timer?
No separate timer module is needed for the switch side. The CM-221 relay is multi function, so the output behavior is set at the switch rather than being a fixed momentary pulse only. Door open time on a swing operator is still set at the operator itself.
