CENTRIOS CE-FOB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Centrios CE-FOB branded fob work with any Centrios account, or do I need a specific plan?
The CE-FOB branded fob is for Centrios Pro Plan use only. If your site is not on the Pro Plan, the fob will not be the right credential to order for it.
2) What does the Centrios CE-FOB fob actually do on the door?
It is a credential you present to a Centrios Smart Reader. The reader is what releases the opening, and it can unlock virtually any door running electrified hardware, from perimeter doors to garages, glass doors and gates. The fob itself carries no electronics for the lock, it just identifies the holder to the reader.
3) What else do I need besides fobs to get a Centrios opening working?
Fobs are only the credential. You need a Centrios Smart Reader at the opening, electrified door hardware for it to release, and power, 12-24 VDC with a dedicated power source recommended. The reader provides two outputs with one configurable relay at 2 amp capacity, plus two inputs for a door position switch and request to exit.
4) Can I hand out Centrios fobs to tenants who don't want to use a phone app?
Yes. The Centrios reader supports Bluetooth mobile access through the Centrios mobile app, and the CE-FOB is the physical credential alternative for anyone you would rather not put on a phone, cleaners, contractors, seasonal staff. The two work on the same reader.
5) Will a Centrios fob still work on an exterior reader in freezing or very hot weather?
The reader it talks to is rated IP-65 weather resistant and operates from -40 to 140 degrees F, so an outdoor gate or perimeter door reader is within spec for the fob to be used at. Mount the reader per its frame, wall, or J-box option and the credential is presented the same way indoors or out.
6) Is the Centrios CE-FOB fob meant for apartment buildings and commercial sites or for a house?
It is catalogued for commercial use, and it belongs to the Centrios electronic lock platform used on multi-family and commercial openings. A property manager standardizing on Centrios readers across a building would issue these fobs as the credential for every door on the system.
