1) What is the difference between the CL370EL fail safe and CL371EU fail secure versions of the Command Access CL37 lock?
Fail safe (CL370EL) is electrically locked, so when power drops the lock releases and the lever retracts the latch. Fail secure (CL371EU) is electrically unlocked, so a power loss leaves the outside lever locked. Pick fail safe on openings where people have to get through during an outage or where the fire alarm has to release the door; pick fail secure on a storeroom, IT closet or stockroom you want locked no matter what the power does. Both are ordered the same way otherwise, and every fail safe and fail secure build comes in 626 satin chrome.
2) Will the Command Access CL37 work on a door that already has a Sargent 10 Line cylindrical lock?
That's exactly what it's built for. The CL37 is the electrified version of the Sargent 10 Line cylindrical lock, so it drops onto a door already prepped for a 10 Line. What changes on a retrofit is power: you're adding a 12V or 24V AC/DC feed to the door, which means an electric hinge or door loop and a transfer path the mechanical lock never needed.
3) What size power supply do I need for a Command Access CL37 electric cylindrical lock?
Budget 250 mA at 12V or 150 mA at 24V per lock, which is 3 watts either way. Coil resistance is 49 ohms at 12V and 159 ohms at 24V.
