Yes. The CLN Series storeroom function controls only the outside lever electronically, locked or unlocked depending on how it's powered. The inside lever is always free, so anyone inside can leave without a key, a code, or power. That's why it's specified on egress-path doors in schools, healthcare, and multi-tenant buildings.
2) Should I order fail safe or fail secure on a Command Access CLN Series electrified cylindrical lock?
Both are built. Fail safe means the lock is electrically locked, so the outside lever unlocks when power drops, which is what you want on stair doors or any opening that has to release on a fire alarm or power loss. Fail secure is electrically unlocked, so the outside lever stays locked without power, which is the normal choice for storerooms, IT closets, and exterior entries on access control. Pick it at the time of order, it is not field-changeable.
3) What voltage and current does the Command Access CLN12 lock draw?
It runs on 12V or 24VAC/DC within plus or minus 10 percent, and a plug-in bridge rectifier is included so either AC or DC works. Draw is 3 watts, which comes out to 250 mA at 12V and 150 mA at 24V. Size your power supply and door loop off those numbers, and on long wire runs 24V is the easier one to hold in tolerance.
4) Can I leave the Command Access CLN Series lock energized all day without burning out the solenoid?
Yes. The CLN Series uses continuous duty solenoids, so it is rated for continuously on applications, which includes any fail safe install where the coil is powered every hour the building is up, and long unlock schedules on fail secure doors. Intermittent duty hardware cannot do that.
5) Will the Command Access CLN12 work in a Schlage ND80 prep and take my Schlage keys?
It is built on the Schlage ND80 series platform, so it goes into that same heavy-duty cylindrical prep. Schlage C keyway is standard, and all original Schlage keyways are available on request, so it can be keyed into an existing Schlage system rather than sitting on its own key.
6) Do I need a separate request-to-exit switch with the Command Access CLN Series lock?
Not if you order it with REX built in. The CLN Series is offered with REX included or not included. Take the REX version when your access control panel needs a signal that the inside lever was turned, for shunting an alarm or logging egress. Skip it when the door already has a motion sensor or the panel does not monitor egress. Retrofitting REX later means pulling the lock, so decide it on the order.
7) What lever and knob trims does the Command Access CLN12 come in?
Three trims: ATH, RHO, and SPA. Finishes are 613 oil rubbed bronze, 625 polished chrome, and 626 satin chrome. If you are matching an existing run of Schlage ND openings in a building, 626 satin chrome is the usual standard and pairing it with the same lever style keeps the electrified doors from looking like an afterthought.
