Handing matters here. The EM19-PIVOT is ordered left hand or right hand, so determine the swing of the opening before you order. Both handings come in either 613 satin bronze oil-rubbed or 630 satin stainless steel, with the same 4WH wire configuration (2/18ga plus 2/26ga).

A pivot is the choice when the door already hangs on pivots rather than butt hinges, which is typical on aluminum storefront and heavy or offset-hung commercial doors. The EM19-PIVOT is a 3/4 inch offset intermediate pivot, so it replaces one of the intermediate pivots in an existing pivot set and does the power transfer at the same time. On a door hung on butt hinges, use an electrified hinge instead. Command Access offers the same 4-wire configuration in its butt hinges, so a facility can standardize the wiring whichever way the doors are hung.
4) Will the wiring be visible between the door and the frame with an electrified pivot?
No. The EM19-PIVOT runs the conductors through the pivot itself, from the hinge jamb into the door, with no exposed wires or cords crossing the gap. That matters on two counts: appearance on a public-facing opening, and security, since there is no loop of cable anyone can cut or pull to defeat the lock.
5) Does the EM19-PIVOT electrified pivot replace the top and bottom pivots too, or just one?
It is an intermediate pivot, so it substitutes for an intermediate pivot in the pivot set, not the top or bottom pivot. The door still needs its top pivot and its bottom pivot or floor closer. Plan the order that way: the pivot set stays, and the EM19-PIVOT takes one position in it and carries the four conductors.
