Blackburn BTC0208-B2-5 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What wire sizes does the Blackburn BTC0208-B2-5 copper lug accept?
The BTC0208-B2-5 terminal lug is rated for conductors from 8 AWG through 2 AWG. Anything larger than 2 AWG or smaller than 8 AWG needs a different lug in the BTC line.
2) Is the Blackburn BTC0208-B2-5 lug copper or aluminum, and can I use it on aluminum conductors?
The body of the BTC0208-B2-5 is copper, so it's a copper-only terminal lug. For aluminum or dual-rated runs you want a tin-plated aluminum AL9CU connector instead, not this one.
3) Is the Blackburn BTC0208 a crimp lug or a set screw lug?
It's a mechanical connector, so the conductor is secured with a set screw rather than crimped. No hydraulic or battery crimp tool is needed, just the correct hex driver and a torque check on the screw.
4) Am I buying a single lug or a bag of two with the BTC0208-B2-5?
The selling unit is each, so one order quantity gets you one lug. The B2 in the part number refers to the manufacturer's two-per-bag packaging designation, but pricing and ordering here are per piece, so order the count of lugs you actually need to terminate.
5) What is the BTC0208-B2-5 lug actually used for on a panel or equipment ground?
It's a one-hole cable or wire terminal lug: the copper barrel takes an 8 through 2 AWG conductor under a set screw and the flat tongue bolts to a ground bar, equipment lug pad, or busbar. Common use is terminating a feeder ground or bonding jumper where a stud or bolt landing is provided.
6) Does the Blackburn BTC0208-B2-5 come with the mounting bolt or lockwasher?
No. The lug is the connector only, sold as a single piece. The bolt, nut, and washers for landing the tongue on your bar or pad come from the equipment or your own hardware.
