OATEY A9722 Dearborn® 1-1/2" S-Trap w/ ABS Threaded Adapter

The A9722 ships with 3 slip joint nuts and 2 washers, so the trap itself plus the ABS threaded adapter is a complete assembly out of the bag. What it does not include is the tailpiece off the fixture drain and the wall or floor drain fitting it ties into, so plan on those separately.

It is a 1-1/2 inch trap with slip joint connections, which is the standard size for kitchen sinks, laundry tubs and most lavatory drains running 1-1/2 inch waste. For a 1-1/4 inch lav tailpiece you would need a reducing washer or a 1-1/4 inch trap instead.

An S-trap like the A9722 turns back down and is used where the waste line drops through the floor instead of going out the wall. A P-trap is what you use when the drain stub comes out of the wall. Worth knowing that many jurisdictions restrict S-traps on new work because of siphoning, so check your local code before specifying one; a lot of A9722 use is repair and replacement of an existing floor-drop setup.

Same 1-1/2 inch polypropylene S-trap body; the difference is the outlet adapter. The A9722 carries an ABS threaded adapter, and the companion version uses a PVC solvent weld adapter. Pick the threaded one if you are screwing into a threaded drain fitting and want to be able to take it apart again; pick the solvent weld version if you are gluing into PVC.

Where the trap is visible and the spec calls for a chrome finish, a plastic trap is the wrong look.
