OATEY P9100TB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Oatey P9100TB disposer kit connect to an InSinkErator garbage disposal?
Yes. The Dearborn P9100TB telescopic disposer kit is built for InSinkErator disposer outlets and uses a Hi-Line flanged connection at the disposer end. If your unit is a Waste King or another brand with a different outlet style, this is not the kit to order.
2) What size drain line does the Dearborn P9100TB disposer kit work with?
It is a 1-1/2 inch kit, which is the standard kitchen sink drain size on residential and most multi-family installs. It ties the disposer outlet into a 1-1/2 inch continuous waste or trap arm.
3) What does the telescopic part of this Oatey disposer kit actually do for me?
The telescoping tube slides in and out so you can adjust the length between the disposer outlet and the trap without cutting to a precise measurement on site. That is what makes it useful when the disposer sits at an odd height or the trap is offset, which is common when swapping a disposer into an existing cabinet.
4) Is the Dearborn P9100TB disposer kit plastic or metal, and will it hold up in a rental kitchen?
It is polypropylene, not metal. Polypropylene shrugs off drain chemicals and hot water and will not corrode the way a thin chrome-over-brass tube does, so it is a common choice for rental and multi-family kitchens. The tradeoff is appearance: under an exposed sink where the trap is visible, most people want chrome instead.
5) Does the Oatey P9100TB come in black, or only white?
The P9100TB is the white one. Dearborn offers the polypropylene disposer kits in white or black, so if you are matching black waste piping under the sink, order the black version by its own part number rather than assuming this one covers both.
6) How is the Dearborn P9100TB packaged if I am buying several for a maintenance shop?
It ships bagged as a kit rather than loose or carded, which keeps the slip nuts and washers together on the shelf. Each kit weighs 0.558 pounds, so a case of them is easy to stock on a truck.
