OATEY 4031 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size is the Oatey Dearborn 4031 urinal spud?
The Dearborn 4031 urinal spud is a 1-1/4 inch by 3/4 inch spud. Match those two numbers against the urinal's inlet and the flush connection you are tying into before you order, since spuds are sized by the pair of connections they bridge and a mismatch on either end means the part will not make up.
2) What does a urinal spud actually do, and do I need one when replacing a flush valve?
A urinal spud is the fitting that connects the flush valve or supply down into the urinal's inlet opening. It is the joint between the fixture and the flushing hardware, not the valve itself. On a flush valve swap, the spud is a separate part from the valve, so if the existing one is corroded, leaking at the fixture, or the wrong size for the new valve, it gets replaced at the same time. The Dearborn 4031 covers a 1-1/4 inch by 3/4 inch combination.
3) Is the Oatey 4031 spud sold as a single piece or a multi-pack?
The Dearborn 4031 is ordered as one spud per unit, model number 4031. For a facility doing several restrooms at once, order the count you need per fixture rather than expecting a kit quantity.
