The P3225D quarter kit ships with the direct drain body, a brass drain spud, the Uni-Lift stopper with chrome finish, and a test plug. It's the drain half of the waste and overflow assembly, so the tub shoe, overflow tube and face plate are the parts you'd be adding from a companion kit or already have on the tub.

A direct drain is what you reach for when the joist bay won't give you room for a sanitary tee. The P3225D's direct drain lets you get the tub waste connected past jobsite obstructions like floor joists where the standard tee geometry simply won't fit. If you have clear space below the tub, a conventional tee configuration works fine and this isn't necessary.

No. The kit solvent welds, and solvent weld joints only work PVC to PVC. Running into cast iron or ABS means a transition: a no-hub band or shielded coupling at the cast iron, or an ABS-to-PVC transition cement or mechanical coupling. Don't try to cement PVC directly into an ABS line.

The kit uses a rubber gasket at the drain, so the seal to the tub is made by the gasket rather than relying on putty alone. That matters on acrylic and fiberglass tubs, where putty can craze or stain the surface.

The test plug lets you seal the drain so the rough-in can be filled and pressure or water tested before the inspector signs off, then it's removed and the stopper goes in. It's included in the kit, so you don't have to source one separately for the inspection.
