1) What minimum stile width does the Delaney 9000 rim device need?
As a rim device it needs a 4-1/2 inch minimum stile. That rules out most narrow stile aluminum storefront doors. The 9000 Series vertical rod configuration only needs 3-1/2 inches of stile if your door is tighter than that.
2) Can I put this Delaney panic bar on a wood door?
No. The 9000 Series is set up for hollow metal and is not rated for wood door use. Door prep covers a stock hollow metal door with a 161 cutout, and a 4-7/8 blank strike plus 161 edge filler are part of the strike package for that prep.
3) Is this Delaney exit device fire rated?
No. The 9000 Series is a panic device only, UL Listed to UL 305 for safety as panic hardware, with no fire rating. If the opening is a labeled fire door assembly, you need fire exit hardware instead, which is also why this device ships with dogging-free panic use in mind rather than fire door restrictions.
4) Will the Delaney 9000 latch into the strike already on my frame?
The latchbolt is zinc with a 3/4 inch throw and ships with the #8170 steel roller strike at 2-3/4 inch backset. If your frame is prepped for a 2-3/8 inch backset, order the optional #8070 strike instead. Existing strikes from another manufacturer are unlikely to line up, so plan on using the supplied roller strike.
5) What door thickness does the Delaney 9000 Series panic bar handle?
Standard range is 1-3/4 to 2 inches, which covers typical commercial hollow metal. A 2-1/4 inch door is available as an option. Mounting comes with wood and machine screws standard; sex nuts and bolts (1346) are an option and are what most institutional specs call for on a through-bolted opening.

7) My door has a narrow stile - what rim exit device should I use instead of the Delaney 9000 Series?

8) Can I use the Delaney 9000 Series or any of these rim exit devices on a wood door or a fire rated opening?
No. The Delaney 9000 Series 36 inch device is not fire rated and is not wood door compatible; its door prep is sized to cover stock hollow metal doors with a 161 cutout. The Accentra 1800 Series 36", 2100 Series 36", 6100ED and 6200 Series 36" are likewise non-fire-rated and not wood door compatible. If the opening is a labeled fire door, none of these devices is the right specification.
9) Do I need to order left hand or right hand for this Delaney rim exit device?
No handing to specify. The 9000 Series is non-handed, so one part number works on either swing.
10) Is this Delaney device Grade 1, and is it acceptable for school and hospital openings?

11) I need dogging on my panic bar. Does the Delaney 9000 have it?
Dogging isn't among the published features of the 9000 Series. If hex key or electrified dogging is a requirement, the Accentra 6100ED is a Grade 1 wide stile rim device with hex key dogging, and the Stanley Security QED Series is a Grade 1 rim device with hex dog and electrified dogging.
12) Can I use the Delaney 9000 rim device on a pair of doors?
A rim device latches into a strike on the frame or on a mullion, so a pair needs a removable mullion between the leaves for both devices to latch. Without a mullion, go to a vertical rod configuration, which latches top and bottom and only needs a 3-1/2 inch stile.
13) Will the KW1 cylinder on this Delaney device key into my existing building system?
It comes with a KW1 cylinder, which is the Kwikset keyway. If your building is keyed in Schlage C or another keyway, this cylinder will not key alike into it and you'd need the cylinder swapped by your locksmith.
