Delaney Hardware BD0015 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does a barn door floor T guide do, and do I need one?
A floor guide is what keeps the bottom of a sliding barn door from swinging away from the wall as it rolls. The Delaney BD0015 is the T style: it mounts to the floor and a single T shaped upright rides in the groove routed into the bottom edge of the door. Without a guide, the door bangs the trim and the rollers wear unevenly, so every barn door installation needs one. The T style requires a bottom groove in the door; if your slab has no groove, you want a wall mounted or adjustable roller style guide instead.
2) Will a black T guide work with a barn door from a different brand?
The guide is not brand matched to the track. A floor mounted T guide works with any sliding barn door that has a groove in its bottom edge, regardless of who made the rail or the hangers, because it never touches the track hardware. What has to match is the groove: the T upright must fit the width and depth of the slot already cut in your door.
