3 inch round duct. The BreezSlim housing is built around a 3 inch outlet, which is what lets it fit the shallow 7.5 x 7.25 x 3.94 inch body. If your existing run is 4 inch, you will need a reducer or a different fan sized for 4 inch duct.
2) Will a BreezSlim housing fit in a 2x4 wall or a shallow ceiling cavity?
The BreezSlim body measures 7.5 x 7.25 x 3.94 inches, with the housing listed at 4 inches high. That depth is what makes it work in tight joist bays and shallow framing where a standard bath fan box will not go, and it is UL approved for either ceiling or wall mounting.
