Deltana 88GB32 Grab Bar, 88 Series, 32"

The 88GB32 is classified as a commercial grab bar, and it is solid brass rather than a plated tube. That makes it a fit for hospitality, multi-family common restrooms, and similar commercial washrooms where a decorative bar is wanted instead of a stainless institutional one.

Projection is 3-3/4 inches from the wall face, with 2-1/2 inches of inside clearance between the bar and the wall for your hand. The bar itself is 1-1/4 inches in diameter. Use the 3-3/4 inch projection when you are checking the bar against a swinging door, a lavatory, or a stall partition alongside it.

32 inches is the bar length for the 88GB32. The mounting bases are 2-5/8 inches wide each, so lay the full 32 inches out on the wall when you are marking blocking, not just the grip section. Deltana's 88 Series is made in several lengths, so if 32 inches lands wrong against your stud or blocking layout, another length in the same series will match the look.

Concealed screw installation. The fasteners are covered by the flanges, so the finished bar shows no visible hardware on the bases. That matters on guest-facing restrooms and residential-grade baths where an exposed-screw institutional bar looks out of place.

Two finishes: Brushed Nickel and Polished Chrome. Both are common bath-suite finishes, so the bar can be matched to towel bars, robe hooks, and paper holders already in the room. If your existing trim is brass-toned or oil rubbed, this particular bar will not match it.

Solid brass with a plated finish is the decorative option: it suits hotel guest baths, apartment units, and remodels where the bar has to look like part of the fixture set. Stainless institutional bars with a knurled or peened grip and exposed flanges are the better call for high-abuse public restrooms and healthcare, where the finish will get scrubbed hard. The 88GB32 is the former, with a smooth 1-1/4 inch brass bar and concealed screws.

A grab bar carries body weight, so the 88GB32 needs solid backing behind both 2-5/8 inch bases, wood blocking or studs, not drywall anchors alone. Set the blocking to the 32 inch bar length before the wall is closed up. On a remodel where the wall is already finished, locate the framing first and let that drive which length in the 88 Series you order.

Sold each, priced per unit, so a single bar is one order line. If you are outfitting a full accessible stall with a rear bar and a side wall bar, that is two separate pieces, and the two walls usually take different lengths.
