Deltana BBS2018-15 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much wall space do I need for the Deltana BBS2018 12 inch brass shelf?
Plan on a 12 inch run of wall for the Deltana BBS2018. The shelf is 12 inches long with a 3-1/8 inch projection off the wall and a 2 inch base size at each mount. Those three numbers tell you whether it clears a swinging door, a vanity edge, or a shower curb before you drill.
2) Is the Deltana BBS2018 shelf solid brass all the way through or just brass plated?
Solid brass, both the material and the substrate on the BBS2018. That matters in a wet room: a plated pot metal or zinc shelf pits where the finish wears at the bracket, while a solid brass body under the finish keeps corroding to a minimum in high humidity bathrooms.
3) What finishes does the Deltana BBS Series 12 inch shelf come in, and can I match it across a whole property?
Four finishes on the BBS2018: Oil Rubbed Bronze, Polished Nickel, Brushed Nickel and Polished Chrome. Since the BBS collection covers a full set of bath accessories, a property manager standardizing units can spec one finish and carry it across the shelf and the companion pieces rather than mixing brands per bathroom.
4) Is the Deltana BBS2018 shelf suitable for a hotel or commercial restroom, or is it a residential item?
Deltana rates the BBS2018 for commercial use, so it is fair game for hospitality, multi-family common baths, and light institutional restrooms as well as homes. The modern styling of the BBS line reads well in guest baths where the rest of the trim is nickel or chrome.
5) I need a longer bath shelf than 12 inches. Is the BBS2018 the only size?
The BBS2018 is the 12 inch shelf in Deltana's BBS line. If your wall run is wider, don't stretch this one across studs it wasn't built to span. Look instead at a longer shelf within the same BBS Series so the finish and the modern profile still match the rest of the bath.
6) Does the Deltana BBS2018 come as a single shelf or in a multi-pack?
It is sold each, one shelf per unit, so a contractor doing eight units orders eight. Pair pieces from the same BBS Series if you want matching towel bars and rings on the same wall.
