The mounting base measures 2 inches and the shelf spans 18 inches overall, so the two ends sit roughly 18 inches apart, which does not line up with 16 inch on-center framing. Plan on toggle or hollow-wall anchors in drywall, or blocking behind tile if you are still at rough-in. The 2 inch base gives you enough footprint to hide a standard anchor plate.

The series runs other sizes under their own model numbers, so if your wall between studs or beside a mirror is tighter than 18 inches, order the shorter BBS shelf model rather than trying to fit this one. Finish options carry across the series, so a shorter shelf still matches.
