Deltana CHUT Cabinet Hinge Finial, Urn Tip, Solid Brass

The CHUT urn tip is made to thread onto Deltana cabinet hinges. It uses a 5 x 0.8mm thread, so the hinge barrel has to be tapped for that thread to accept it. If your hinges are another brand, match the thread before ordering, because a metric 5 x 0.8 tip won't start in a hinge cut for anything else.

That is exactly what the CHUT is for. The finials thread into Deltana cabinet hinges, so an existing hinge can be dressed up without pulling the hinge off the door, provided the barrel is threaded 5 x 0.8mm to match. It's a common way to upgrade a kitchen's look without replacing the hinges themselves.

They are sold each, one finial per unit. A hinge with a tip at both the top and bottom of the barrel takes two, so count your hinges and double it before you place the order for a full kitchen.

Ten finishes: PVD Polished Brass, Polished Brass, Unlacquered Brass, Antique Brass, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Polished Nickel, Brushed Nickel, Antique Nickel, Polished Chrome, and Brushed Chrome. Order the tip in the same finish code as the hinge it goes on, and if you want the brass to patina naturally over time, Unlacquered Brass is the one that will; PVD Polished Brass is the one that stays put.

Deltana lists the CHUT as a residential product. It is a decorative cabinet hinge tip, not a rated piece of hardware, so for millwork in a hotel, clinic, or school where a spec calls out commercial grade hardware, this is not the item that satisfies the spec. For residential kitchens, baths, and multi-family unit cabinetry it is what it is built for.

Solid brass throughout, both the material and the substrate, with the finish applied over it. That matters on unlacquered and antique finishes where wear exposes the base metal, since brass under brass just ages rather than showing a different metal.

Purely decorative shape. The urn tip on the CHUT is a tapered, vase-like profile that suits traditional and period cabinetry, where a ball tip is round and reads a little simpler. Both thread into the same hinge barrel, so the choice is style only, not fit, as long as the thread matches.
