The PDB42 is a face-mounted privacy bolt. It mounts on the face of the pocket door at the rear (leading) edge, and once the door is closed the bolt throws into a strike at the jamb so the door can't be slid back open. It's a privacy device for bathrooms, bedrooms and offices where a sliding door has no room for a conventional lockset, not a keyed security lock. A safety hole release protector is included so the bolt can be released from outside in an emergency.
