1) Will the Design Hardware LE08 exit trim fit my existing 161 door prep?
Yes. The LE08 escutcheon measures 3 inches wide by 9 inches high with a 3/4 inch projection, and it covers a standard 161 cylindrical prep. That makes it a clean swap on a door already bored for a cylindrical lock. Mounting is thru-bolted into the head of the exit device, and the thru bolt posts plus 1/4-20 machine screws come in the box.
2) Does the LE08 exit trim work on a 2 inch thick door?
Standard build is for 1-3/4 inch doors, which covers most commercial openings. For a 2 inch door you need the thick door kit, so specify that when you order. The spindle is 5/16 inch square steel, machined and heat treated.
3) Do I have to order the LE08 trim handed for a left or right hand door?
No handing to specify. The LE08 is non-handed and the hand is selected in the field at installation, so one part covers both openings on a pair and you can stock a single trim for a building.
4) Does the Design Hardware LE08 entry trim come with a cylinder, or do I order one separately?
A cylinder is included: a 1-1/8 inch mortise cylinder with standard cam, 6 pin brass, Schlage C keyway, supplied with two keys. 5) Can I key several LE08 exit trims to one key for a building?
Yes. Keying is a required choice at order: keyed different is the standard, and keyed alike is available when you want multiple openings on one key. It is a single cylinder function on the Schlage C keyway, so it also drops into an existing C keyway system.
6) Is the LE08 exit trim Grade 1 and ADA compliant for a school or hospital?
It is ANSI A156.3 Grade 1 and meets ADA requirements under ANSI A117.1, which is what an institutional spec normally calls for on an exit opening. 8) The LE08 has an electrified option - what other electrified exit device trims are there?
The Design Hardware LE08 offers a 12/24 Volt AC/DC electrified option with field selectable fail safe and fail secure. 9) Which exit device trims look like the LE08 but will not work on a 1000R or 2000R device?
Escutcheon lever trim looks nearly identical across brands, but the mounting is device specific. The Design Hardware LE08 is built for 1000 and 2000 Series exit devices and thru bolts to the head of the exit device. The Arrow SRX01 Sierra lever trim is for ED910, S1150 and S1250 devices, the Corbin Russwin ED3000 Series trim is for ED300 Series devices, the Corbin Russwin x910ET is for ED5200S/ED5200/ED5400/ED5800 Series, and the Von Duprin 110MD-NL is for 22, 55 and 98/99 Series devices. None of those cross over - the trim has to match the exit device family.
10) Is a rose style lever exit trim a substitute for the LE08 escutcheon trim?
They cover the door differently. The Design Hardware LE08 uses a 3 inch by 9 inch escutcheon with a 3/4 inch projection that covers a 161 door prep. The Marks USA M195F is a storeroom function lever and rose trim with spring loaded roses, and the Arrow SRX01 is a passage function Sierra lever with a rose. A rose trim leaves a 161 prep exposed, so if the door is already prepped for a cylindrical lock the escutcheon style is the one that hides it.
11) What is the difference between the 08 entry, 08A passage, and 02DT dummy versions of this Design Hardware trim?
Three functions share the same escutcheon. 08 entry is keyed: the key controls the outside lever, and it converts in the field to 03NL night latch, where the key retracts the latch and the lever is fixed. 08A passage is unkeyed, outside lever always retracts the latch. 02DT is a dummy, a fixed lever with no latch operation, used for pull side only or the inactive leaf of a pair. Order the entry version if you ever want the night latch behavior, since the conversion is built in.
12) Is there an electrified version of the LE08 exit device trim?
