Detex 100207 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Detex 100207 dogging hook actually do inside an exit device?
The 100207 is the mechanical hook that lets the dogging mechanism hold the exit device latch retracted, so the door pushes open freely without latching. When dogging stops holding, this hook is one of the parts to look at. It's a Detex OEM replacement part meant to restore that function without modifying the host device.
2) Is the Detex 100207 a genuine Detex part or an aftermarket copy?
Genuine Detex, supplied through the Detex parts and accessories program and built to the original device specifications. That matters on a dogging hook, because an off-dimension hook either will not engage or will not release cleanly.
3) Do I have to replace the whole exit device, or can I just swap the dogging hook?
If the failure is in the dogging hook itself, the 100207 goes in as a direct replacement with no modification to the host device, so the device stays on the door. That's the point of stocking it as a repair part rather than replacing a full assembly. If the pushpad, latch, or dogging cylinder is also damaged, those are separate components.
4) I manage a building with several Detex exit devices. Is the 100207 the same hook across all of them?
It fits compatible Detex exit device assemblies, not automatically every Detex device in the building. Pull the device model number off each unit and match it before buying quantity for a fleet of doors, since Detex exit device parts are model-specific.
5) Is this dogging hook suitable for high-traffic commercial doors, or is it a light-duty residential part?
It's a commercial part, not a residential one. Detex lists the 100207 for commercial exit device service in settings like schools, hospitals, retail, warehouses, government buildings, and multi-tenant residential buildings running commercial-grade exit devices.
