It's the weatherized version of the Detex maglock, with a stainless steel case and epoxy filling inside so moisture and temperature swings don't get at the coil. The floating armature is the other half of it: gates sag and settle, and the armature moves enough to keep full face contact with the electromagnet instead of losing holding force on a misaligned leaf. There are no moving parts to bind or corrode. Both orderable configurations, standard and face mount, are weatherized.
2) Do I need to order a left hand or right hand version of the ML-1549W?
