Put it over a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset lockset and the hole will not line up with the existing bore. Measure from the door edge to the center of the knob or lever hole before you order; if that measurement is 2-3/4, you need a wrap around cut for that backset instead.
2) Can I use a wrap around plate to cover a damaged or oversized lock bore instead of replacing the door?
That is the main reason these get bought. The 55 CW wraps the door face around the lock prep and reinforces it, covering chewed-up wood or metal around the bore.
