1) Which bottom rail size do I order for a Dorma RTS threshold pivot?
The RTS threshold pivot is sold to match your door's bottom rail, in 7/8 inch and 1-9/16 inch. Measure the rail on the door leaf before you order, because the pivot has to seat in that rail depth. If you are replacing an existing Dorma RTS floor closer setup, pull the old pivot and match the rail it came out of rather than guessing from the door style.
2) Is the Dorma 8570 pivot an offset pivot or a center hung pivot?
Offset. The 8570 RTS pivot mounts offset, so the door swings on an axis set in from the leaf edge rather than on the door centerline. That matters when you are laying out the opening: an offset arrangement is not interchangeable with a center hung pivot set, and the floor prep and header prep differ.
3) Can I use a Dorma RTS threshold pivot on a fire rated door opening?
No. The 8570 RTS pivot carries no fire rating, so it should not be specified on a labeled opening. For a rated door you need pivot hardware that is listed for that use; putting an unrated pivot in a fire door assembly voids the label on the opening.
4) Does the Dorma RTS pivot come as a set with both the top and bottom pivot?
Top and bottom both. The RTS pivot is supplied as a top and bottom arrangement, so you are not sourcing the walking beam or intermediate pivot separately for the same leaf. It is intended for a standard door application, not a special-profile or all-glass leaf.
5) Is the Dorma RTS pivot heavy enough for a busy commercial entrance?
It is a commercial part, rated standard duty. That suits a normal-traffic commercial door running on an RTS floor closer. For a high-abuse entrance, a heavy-traffic storefront, or an oversized or unusually heavy leaf, step up to heavy duty pivot hardware instead of pushing this one.
6) Does the Dorma 8570 threshold pivot need any power or wiring?
No wiring. The RTS threshold pivot is fully mechanical, with no electrified option, so there is nothing to run to it and nothing to lose when power drops. If your opening needs an electric transfer for a lock or access control, that has to be handled through separate hardware, not through this pivot.
