1) Which Dorma exit devices does the YR08 lever trim fit?
The YR08 escutcheon trim is built for Dorma 9000 Series wide stile exit devices, specifically the 9100, F9100, 9300, F9300, 9400 and F9400. That covers rim, surface vertical rod and concealed vertical rod devices, so the same trim carries across a building where some openings are single doors on rim devices and others are pairs on vertical rod devices.
2) How does classroom function work on this Dorma exit device trim?
Entrance is by the lever, and the key locks or unlocks the lever from the outside. Turn the key to the locked position and the outside lever goes rigid, so the door can only be entered with a key; unlock it and anyone can come in on the lever. The exit device itself always allows free egress from the inside regardless of which state the trim is in. This is ANSI Function 08.
3) Does the Dorma YR08 trim come with a cylinder, and what keyway is it?
A 90X10SC118 mortise cylinder ships with the trim, cut to a 6-pin conventional Schlage C keyway. If your building is already keyed on Schlage C, order it keyed alike and it drops into the existing system. There is also a less-cylinder option if your locksmith is supplying his own mortise cylinder from stock.
4) Will the YR08 escutcheon fit on a narrow stile aluminum storefront door?
No. The escutcheon base measures 8-1/2 x 2-3/4 inches, which is wide stile trim and will overhang the stile on a typical narrow stile aluminum door. It belongs on hollow metal, wood, or wide stile aluminum openings running a Dorma 9000 Series device. For a narrow stile storefront you need narrow stile pull or lever trim matched to that device instead.
5) How far does the Dorma YR08 lever trim stick out from the door?
Projection is 3-1/2 inches off the door face. Worth checking against anything in the swing path: a door in a tight corridor, an adjacent wall return, or a pair of doors where the leaves overlap when open. The escutcheon plate itself is 8-1/2 x 2-3/4 inches on the face.
6) Can I get Dorma YR08 trim keyed alike across multiple classroom doors?
Yes. Keying is a required selection: keyed different is the standard, or specify keyed alike so one key runs every opening you order together. There is also a text field for special cylinder or keying requirements if you need the cylinders to feed into an existing master key system on Schlage C.
7) Is Dorma YR08 lever trim tough enough for a school corridor?
That is the application it is built for. The escutcheon is heavy duty and vandal resistant, in stainless steel as standard, and the trim is Grade 1. Classroom function paired with a 9000 Series device is the usual specification for a school or institutional corridor door where staff need to lock the outside lever with a key but egress stays free at all times.

The escutcheon is the raised rectangular plate that mounts to the door face and houses the mortise cylinder; the R lever is the rectangular lever style that mounts through it. On the YR08 both come together as one assembly, plate plus R lever plus cylinder, so there is nothing separate to order for the lever itself. The Y designation is the escutcheon shape.
