1) Does the Dormakaba Nova RT Plus 79PS112T1 mortise lockset need a mortise pocket in the door, or can it go into a standard cylindrical bore?
This one is a mortise lock. The chassis is a mortise chassis, so the door has to be prepped with a mortise pocket in the edge plus the face cuts for the lever and reader trim. A door bored for a cylindrical lockset will not take it without being re-prepped or replaced. If the openings are already cylindrical prep, you want a cylindrical electronic lock instead, not this one.
2) Which handing do I order for the Dormakaba RT Plus 79PS112T1 RFID mortise lockset?
Handing is an order decision on this lock, and there are two choices: Left Hand or Right Hand Reverse, and Right Hand or Left Hand Reverse. Stand outside the opening (the secure side, where the reader goes). If the hinges are on your left and the door swings away from you, that is Left Hand. Hinges on the left with the door swinging toward you is Left Hand Reverse. Pick the pairing that includes your opening. Ordering the wrong one puts the lever pitched the wrong way on the door.
3) Does the Dormakaba RT Plus standalone utility lockset have a deadbolt?
No deadbolt on this configuration. It is the standalone utility function with a latch only, which is what you want on the back-of-house openings a utility lock is for: mechanical rooms, storage, laundry, electrical and janitor closets, staff-only doors. If the opening needs a throw bolt for added security or a privacy condition, this is the wrong configuration and you need an RT Plus version that includes the deadbolt.
4) Is the Dormakaba Nova RT Plus lock standalone, or does it need to be wired back to an access control panel?
Standalone. The lock holds its own credential data at the door, so there is no panel, no reader wiring and no home run back to a head end.
