DynaLock 2000 Series Electromagnetic locks

Model 2011-390

The 2000 Series is a full size 1200 lbs. holding force electromagnet. It is designed for life safety and high security on rated or nonrated doors and frames. Specify for commercial, industrial, or institutional openings when low cost and highsecurity are required

All 2000 Series locks are designed for ease of installation with adjustable mounting, field selectable voltage, and convenient wiring compartments. Optional integrated door and lock status sensors allow remote monitoring without the need to install separate “door contacts”.
The 2000 Series is offered in single, double, and split armature models for both outswinging and inswinging doors. The coil and housing assembly mounts rigidly to the door frame while the armature mounts to the door in a manner that allows it to pivot slightly to compensate for door irregularities. When the door is closed and the lock is energized the armature is magnetically bonded to the lock face, thus securing the door without utilizing any moving parts.

Standard Features

• Internal wiring compartment includes built-in circuit board attached to access cover to provide a convenient, plug in, concealed area for wiring connections.
• Low power consumption conserves energy, reduces operation cost, and extends battery backup time.
• A totally plated coil and armature provides protection against corrosion.
• A narrow backset of 1-1/2” may mean the elimination of other mounting brackets or filler plates.
• No residual magnetism - the door releases without delay when lock is de-energized.
• Multiple sensor and monitor options increases flexibility, security and compatibility with system equipment.
• Built-in spike suppression protects other solid state components within the system from damage when the lock is de-energized.
• Lifetime Warranty - American Made in the USA by DynaLock, with over 20 years experience in the manufacture of electromagnetic locks.

DynaLock 2011-390 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the 2011-390 maglock work on an inswing door or only outswing?
The 2011-390 is catalogued for outswing. On an outswinging door the coil housing mounts to the frame header on the pull side and the armature bolts through the door, which is the straight surface-mount application with no extra brackets. The wider 2000 Series does cover inswing openings using double and split armature models, so for an inswing door you want one of those configurations rather than this one.
2) What power supply do I need to run a DynaLock 2011-390, and how much current does it pull?
It is multi-voltage auto-sensing, so it takes 12 or 24 VAC/VDC with no jumper to set. A single magnet draws 374 mA at 12VDC or 210 mA at 24VDC. Running at 24V roughly halves the current, which is what you want on a long home run or when you are sizing battery standby. It is not battery operated on its own, so plan on an access control power supply.
3) What is the difference between DSM, HSM and the VOP option on the DynaLock 2000 Series?
They are three levels of monitoring. DSM is just the door status switch, signalling door closed or ajar. HSM is the high security monitor and also carries the door status switch. VOP, the value option package, bundles the door status switch, the Dynastat force sensor that confirms a good magnetic bond, and an anti-tamper switch that signals if the wiring access cover is pulled. If your head end only needs a door contact, DSM covers it; if you need bond verification and tamper reporting back at the panel, order VOP.
4) What is the other direct retrofit for a Locknetics 390+ magnetic lock besides the DynaLock 2011-390?
The Schlage Electronics M390RFK is also a direct retrofit for the Locknetics 390+, and it is rated at 1500 lbs holding force with a door status monitor, magnetic bond sensor and relock time delay included. The DynaLock 2011-390 covers the same 390+ replacement at 1200 lbs. holding force in a 1-1/2"D x 2-3/4"H x 10-1/2" L surface mount body, with door status switch, high security monitor and value option package selectable rather than fixed.
5) For a pair of doors instead of a single leaf, what magnetic lock should be used in place of a single 1200 lb surface magnet?
For double doors, look at the Alarm Controls 1200D Series double magnetic lock or the Dorma EML320, a double-door electromagnetic lock rated 1500 lb. The DynaLock 2011-390 is a single electromagnet at 1200 lbs. holding force, so a pair of leaves needs either two singles or one of the double-door units.
6) I need delayed egress on this opening - is a standard 1200 lb magnet the right part?
No. A standard magnet holds and releases on command only; for a delayed egress opening the Alarm Controls 1200DE Series is a delayed egress magnetic lock for a single door. The DynaLock 2011-390 is a standard single 1200 lbs. holding force magnet whose timing feature is an adjustable relock time delay, which governs re-locking after release rather than delaying egress.
7) Which magnetic lock is documented for a fire rated opening?
The Dorma EML310 single-door units, including the EML310 DP 628 with door position sensor and the EML310 BA DP 628 with bond alert and door position sensor, carry a fire rating and are electrically locked (fail safe) at 1500 lb. The DynaLock 2011-390 is described as designed for life safety and high security on rated or nonrated doors and frames.
8) Can I get a status LED on the DynaLock 2011-390 maglock itself?
Yes, a bi-color LED is offered for local signalling of lock status, but it is not standalone. It requires either the HSM high security monitor or the VOP value option package, so you have to add one of those to the order for the LED to have something to report.
9) Do I still need to install a separate door contact with this maglock?
Not if you specify a monitoring option. The integrated door status switch on the 2000 Series reports closed or ajar straight from the lock, so remote monitoring works without running a separate recessed door contact in the frame. It is available with the DSM, HSM and VOP configurations. Order the plain unmonitored version and you will still need a contact.
10) Do I have to order a separate timer to delay relock on this DynaLock magnet?
No. Adjustable relock time delay, which used to be the TD option, comes standard on every 2000 Series lock. Built-in spike suppression is standard too, so you are not adding a diode across the coil to protect the boards upstream.
11) Will a mag lock like this hold a door if the power goes out?
No, and that is the point. An electromagnet holds only while energized, so cutting power releases the door immediately. The 2000 Series has no residual magnetism, meaning the armature lets go without the sticky delay some magnets show. That fail-safe behavior is why these get specified on life safety openings, and why the opening still needs its own egress devices and fire alarm interface per local code.
12) Is this magnet approved for a fire rated door?
The 2000 Series is designed for use on rated or nonrated doors and frames, so the construction suits a labeled opening. Whether it is permitted on your specific door depends on the door label and your fire alarm release scheme, so confirm with the AHJ. If the spec explicitly demands a fire rated listed magnet, the Dorma EML310 and EML320 carry a fire rating in our records.
13) Is a shear lock the same thing as a surface mounted magnetic lock?
No. The ROFU 8031-002 shear lock develops 2200 LB holding force at 12/24VDC and is monitored, but a shear lock is concealed in the head of the frame and engages the armature vertically, so the door prep is different. The DynaLock 2011-390 is a surface mount electromagnet, 1-1/2"D x 2-3/4"H x 10-1/2" L, whose coil housing attaches to the frame face and holds a face-mounted armature at 1200 lbs. They are not interchangeable in the same prep.
14) What should I use on a sliding door instead of a surface magnet?
For a sliding leaf, the Schlage Electronics 320M is a compact mortise sliding door electromagnetic lock at 1500 lbs holding force and heavy duty level. The DynaLock 2011-390 is a surface mount magnet configured for an outswing door, with the housing on the frame and the armature on the door leaf.
15) If I want a 1200 lb magnet that already includes monitoring rather than an option, what are my choices?
The ROFU 8512 is a standard single magnet at 1200 LB holding force, 12/24VDC, with selectable keyhole mount, and the Dorma EML310 DP 628 ships with a door position sensor as part of the model. The Locknetics MG Series is offered in standard or monitored builds at 600lb/1200lb, 12/24VDC. On the DynaLock 2011-390, door status switch, high security monitor and value option package are each ordered yes or no, so monitoring is built to the job rather than fixed.
16) Is wiring a DynaLock 2000 Series magnet a pain in a tight header?
The wiring lives in an internal compartment with a circuit board mounted to the access cover, so connections are a plug-in job in a concealed space rather than wire nuts crammed behind the magnet. Mounting is adjustable and voltage is field selectable, so you are not committing to 12 or 24V at the order stage. The armature mounts to the door so it can pivot slightly and take up door irregularities against the lock face.
17) Will the DynaLock 2011-390 corrode in a damp stairwell or garage vestibule?
Both the coil and the armature are fully plated for corrosion protection, which covers normal interior humidity. It is not a weatherproof unit though. For direct exposure to rain or wash-down, move to a purpose-built weather resistant magnet such as the Alarm Controls 1200WP or the Dortronics 1000 Series industrial lock with sealed electronics.
