DynaLock 7077 Series Break Glass Station, with Audible Sounder

The 7077 is an emergency egress release. Breaking the glass lens trips the contacts and drops power to a maglock or electric strike so the door opens, giving an auxiliary way out when the normal request-to-exit or card reader path is unavailable. The 7077 version adds an audible sounder that goes off when the glass is broken, so anyone using it as a shortcut is heard. It is a commercial device, not a residential one.

They are the same assembly in three versions: standard, standard with an LED indicator, and standard with an audible sounder. The 7077 is the audible one. Pick the plain version where the station is in sight of staff, the LED version where you want visual confirmation the circuit is live, and the 7077 where you want the station to announce itself, which is the usual choice for a door people are tempted to use as a shortcut.

A push button releases the door and resets itself, which suits routine egress and reception desk release. A break glass station like the 7077 is for the emergency path: it takes a deliberate act to operate, it stays open until someone replaces the lens, and on the 7077 it sounds an alarm when used. That non-resetting behavior is the point, since it leaves evidence the door was released. Many jobs use both, a button for daily use and the break glass as the auxiliary release.
