DynaLock 7075 Series Break Glass, Standard Exit Stations

The 7075 break glass station is an auxiliary emergency release for electrically locked egress doors. Breaking the glass lens trips the switch and drops power to the mag lock or electric strike, so the door can be opened even if the normal exit button or card reader circuit is unavailable. It is a manual override device, not a locking device itself.

Its contacts are SPDT-DB (Form Z), momentary, rated 6 amps at 125VAC. That handles a typical low voltage mag lock or strike circuit directly, and the double break, single pole double throw arrangement also gives you a spare set of transfer contacts for signalling an alarm panel or monitoring point. Anything drawing more than 6 amps needs to be switched through a relay.

The 7075 break glass assembly comes in three builds: standard, standard with an LED indicator, and standard with an audible. Model 7075 is the plain standard version, with no indicator light and no local sounder. Pick the LED version when staff need to see at a glance that the station has been tripped, and the audible version when you want a local alarm at the door the moment the glass goes.

The plate measures 6-3/4 x 4-1/2 inches. Plan that footprint on the wall or column beside the opening, clear of trim and door stops. It is a commercial device, so it is normally mounted on the egress side within reach of someone leaving.

Five spare glass lenses ship with the station. That covers the inevitable test breaks and a few accidental ones before you need to reorder, which matters if you are a property manager putting these on multiple stairwell or vestibule doors.

A push button is for everyday release; a break glass station is for emergency release only. Because the glass has to be broken to operate it, use of the 7075 is deliberate and self evident afterward, which discourages casual use and leaves visible proof the door was released. Many installs use both on the same opening: a momentary push button for normal exits, the break glass as the auxiliary path when the normal circuit is not doing its job.

It is an electrical device and has to be wired into the lock power or access control circuit. There is no mechanical linkage to the door hardware, so the door only releases if the station is wired to interrupt power to the lock. Run the wiring back to the power supply or control board through the Form Z contacts.
